Meet Anne
I'm Swiss, grew up and spent many years in Europe and West Africa, and now live in the beautiful Sonoran Desert of Arizona.
My life in culturally diverse places has influenced the designs and techniques I use. From Grecian patterns and smooth French lines from Mediterrenean Europe, to pregnant shapes from West Africa, to natural riches found in the Sonoran Desert, they all contribute to the individuality of my clay art. For the past twenty years, I have been in constant search of simplicity and elegance, like the perfect curve of a bowl, or the deepest smoked black in raku. My work incorporates natural elements and a mélange of textures from shimmering metallics to earthy charcoals and abstract raku linework.
When I am not playing with clay or teaching pottery classes, I can be found tending to my cactus garden, running trails or harvesting honey from our bee hive. In the evening I like to relax with a glass of wine on my back porch, watching the birds feed.
